Club Rendez-Vous

Anybody that appreciate a cold day outside would love Le Club Rendez-Vous. Located near by St-George de Beauce, it offer cross country skiing trails surrounded of snowy trees.

They have a few trail options, with trails for every levels. Have it on your "To Do" list if you occurred to be in the area.

Cross Country Mountain Biking on Mount Fromme

Map legend:

The black trails are the existing uphill trails. They are easy enough to be ride both way. Some are forbidden to downhill.

The red trails are the one that we badly need. They would be nice to have to allow nice climb up to the 7th switchback of Mtn Highway.

The green trail is my crazy thought. Wouldn't be nice to be able to get the Fromme Summit on a mountain bike?

In blue is Baden Powell, it is a challenging cross country trail going downhill from the intersection with Dreamwaver to Mtn Highway, with some uphill. No fun for beginner.

Hollyburn Summit

Hollyburn is a mountain near by the Cypress ski hill. From the summit there is a wonderful view on the Howe Sound, Black Mountain, Mount Strachan, Grouse Mountain, Crown Mountain and beyond. From the Cypress X-country ski area parking lot (Elevation 900m) to Hollyburn summit (elevation 1300m), it is a 8km hike round-trip. We did it on last Sunday of November. We did it in 3 hours. It was a cold and clear day. The snow cover at the top was 150mm (frozen hard snow cover). We saw some hikers with snowshoes... useless. Crampons is probably the best idea to hike frozen "wet" trail.

Hike to Mount Fromme Summit

Mount Fromme is a prime mountain bike terrain with nice hiking options. Going to the summit from Prospect Rd is an interesting option because it is not well marked and the terrain is wild (lot of eroded terrain and broken trees). The tail follow Mosquito Creek. It connects to a variety of other unmarked trail. Although it isn't marked properly, it is still easy to get around.

From Mountain Hwy 6th switchback, Peer Gynt trail is easy to follow to the top.

The St Georges Trail is the easiest option to get to Mountain Hwy.

We did it at end of November. It is a 9km round trip from elevation 325m to 1170m. We hike in the snow from elevation 975m. At summit the snow cover was 150mm. Little slippery but so fun coming downhill... We did it 3h30min.

Hike From Horseshoe Bay to Black Mountain

On an end of October clear day, I took 5 hours to hike Black Mountain from Cranley Dr (round trip). I got 1,264m of elevation gain and 16.9km on my GPS. Best view near Vancouver as you get to Eagle Bluff.

Hike to the Lions - Lions Bay, BC

We hike up to the West Lion from Lions Bay. It took 7 hours round trip with a 45 minutes break at the top. It was mid-October and very cloudy when we start our hike. The view was worth the effort.
